» Back to pilates classes
Pilates is an amazing practice that virtually reshapes the body by strengthening your foundation (core muscles or "powerhouse"), during each repetition of every exercise. It all began with founder Joseph Pilates. He believed that movements designed and executed properly could take the place of hours of mindless, sloppy exercises. He created exercises and equipment that improved alignment and therefore move more efficiently. All classes are based on his original principles.
Pilates improves alignment, corrects imbalances, decreases back pain, and improves posture. The body is like a house. If the foundation is weak, regardless of the exterior, you will always be at risk for structural damage over the years. Your practice will never get boring. You will experience an increase in core strength, muscle tone, balance, and stability. Sessions may include exercises utilizing the mat, reformer, ring, roller, Cadillac, bands or chair. We encourage a few Private sessions when you are first starting out to enhance your participation in classes. When performed correctly with our amazing staff, you will see and feel a difference after a few sessions. All ages and fitness levels may benefit from Pilates practice.
Teenagers benefit from Pilates and Yoga. They develop a great sense of core strength and body awareness, which helps them in many aspects of life, school, and sports. Students who play sports can benefit from our special programs. It gives them that extra edge, core stability, focus, and balanced strength. This also helps prevent the possibly of overuse injuries. It also helps enhance their confidence and self esteem. All exercises have many modifications and can be performed by all regardless of fitness level.
